Under the Health Authorities Act in Nova Scotia, an essential services agreement is required before any strike action is taken. The union contends that they have tried 13 times to secure an agreement with Nova Scotia Health and failed to develop a staffing plan. “We have repeatedly seen the employer attempt to undermine workers’ right to strike and, by extension, bargain a fair collective agreement, by refusing to meaningfully engage in the process of establishing essential services,” Hugh Gillis, NSGEU 1st Vice-President, said. “This time, we will be asking for the assistance of Conciliation Services or a mediator to oversee the process and to ensure the employer takes this process seriously, for once.” The Council of Unions represents more than 9,000 workers in 174 occupations in 12 key service areas: Diagnostic Imaging & Laboratory; Respiratory; Pharmacy; Physical Therapy; Mental Health & Addictions; Cancer Therapy; Prosthetics; Anaesthesia; Hearing & Speech; Paramedic; Orthopaedic; and Community Health. 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail admin previous post With expansion of phone app, Nova Scotia patients can access a suite of health info next post هل تعرضت مستشارة بشار الأسد لحادثة سير مدبرة؟ You may also like Wilkie wins Canada’s first gold medal at Milan... 8 مارس، 2026 Iranian state TV says Mojtaba Khamenei, son of... 8 مارس، 2026 Missing police badge recovered in proactive traffic stop 8 مارس، 2026 Mooseheads win season series against Eagles 8 مارس، 2026 PM Carney calls federal by-elections for April in... 8 مارس، 2026 بمشاعر تتأرجح بين الارتياح والتوتر: كنديون يغادرون لبنان... 8 مارس، 2026 Diesel prices to shift again in Nova Scotia... 6 مارس، 2026 Halifax Water investigating ‘privacy incident’ on its online... 6 مارس، 2026 Halifax teens lament the loss of government program... 6 مارس، 2026 Spring Garden area businesses call out paid parking... 6 مارس، 2026
