Hazelton re-elected as president of the Nova Scotia Nurses Union

Janet Hazelton has been re-elected as president of the Nova Scotia Nurses’ Union Board of Directors. Hazelton has been in the position since she was first elected in October 2002.

Hazelton is a graduate of the School of Nursing at St. Francis Xavier. In 2010, she earned a Master of Public Administration degree at Dalhousie University. Janet sits on the Board of Directors for the Workers’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia, the Provincial Nursing Network of Nova Scotia, and the National Executive Board of the Canadian Federation of Nurses’ Unions.

“I am proud of my nursing and union career. I am passionate about the work that I do, and I’m energized by the mandate NSNU nurses have given me,” says Hazelton.

This latest victory means Hazelton will hold the position for another two-year term and will remain at the helm of the Council of Nursing Unions as they continue to negotiate a new contract for acute care nurses.

The Nova Scotia Nurses Union represents over 8,600 registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and nurse practitioners working in acute, long term and community care across the province.
