Halifax West placed into hold and secure after weapons call

Halifax Regional Police had a large presence near Clayton Park High School Friday morning.

HRP spokesperson Marla McInnis said officers responded to a weapons call on Thomas Raddall Dr. as classes were underway and took a suspect into custody at the scene.

Regional Police said there is no threat to public safety, but they expected to have several officers in the area as part of the investigation.

The suspect’s identity was not released, but more information was expected to be released Friday afternoon.

Halifax West High School was placed into a hold and secure condition, but officials said the school itself was secure, and classes continued as usual.
