Residents are being encouraged to share their ideas and feedback in order to help shape the future of Mill Cove and the Bedford Waterfront through a pair of engagement sessions. The sessions, both featuring information on the future ferry terminal and plans for a new library, come as the project continues to raise concerns about escalating costs, now estimated to be more than $250 million over the next four years, according to the capital plan. On Friday, Coun. Kathryn Morse’s motion to have staff look at the implications of cancelling the Mill Cove Ferry Terminal was turned down, although many councillors agreed there’s a need to take a deeper look at the project. The municipality now wants to hear from residents through two engagement sessions to be held at Bedford United Church on Wed. Feb. 11 from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Related: One Halifax ferry expected to return this month, another sidelined How long until Canada sees a high-speed rail come to life? The municipality has also created an online survey that aims to help shape the future of Mill Cove and the Bedford waterfront. The municipality says there will be opportunities in each phase of this project to get involved and share ideas through surveys, community events and more.
