East Hants District RCMP arrested a Halifax resident accused of a dangerous driving and flight from police.

On July 1 at 12:27 p.m., the officers responded to a report of a man drinking in a parked vehicle in Elmsdale. When they arrived, officers found a 32-year-old man in a vehicle who escaped as they came closer.

He was soon found again on a rural road, where he was circling in the vehicle on the roadway and drove back down the road, deliberately ramming an RCMP vehicle and fleeing. The police say they did not follow him.

At 7:38 p.m., police found the vehicle after it was reported by the public in Upper Rawdon and discovered it was stolen from Truro on June 28.

Today at approximately 9:15 a.m., the public reported a man walking on the side of the roadway on 354 Highway near Rawdon.  As a result of the investigation, police arrested the man without incident. They reported no injuries during the arrest.

Christopher Wade Ross, 32, is currently in custody and will appear in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on July 4. He faces charges, including:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Flight from police

Lower Sackville RCMP, West Hants RCMP, Indian Brook RCMP, and RCMP Police Dog Services assisted the incident.

The investigation is continuing, and East Hants District RCMP is asking anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 902-883-7077. Anyone who wants to remain anonymous can call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit an online tip on this website or use the P3 Tips App.
