Halifax police officer charged for sale of stolen property

The chief of Halifax Regional Police says he is disappointed after one of his constables was charged with multiple criminal offences.

On Wednesday, Nova Scotia’s police watchdog said it was laying charges against a member of HRP.

The Serious Incident Response Team said it received a referral in September from HRP regarding allegations related to the sale of stolen property, including bicycles and other property, by an officer.

As a result, Constable Fallon Clarke was charged with multiple offences.

HRP Chief Don MacLean released a statement on the matter, saying he is disappointed and that he along with the public expects better of officers.

“I want to stress that we will not let the actions of one officer define us,” MacLean wrote. “Our police service is comprised of many officers and civilians working with the highest standard of integrity and to the highest standard of service.”

MacLean says Clarke has been suspended with pay since the investigation began and will remain suspended pending the outcome in court.
