Halifax Regional Police have issued an advisory warning motorists this morning of potential dangerous driving conditions.

After receiving numerous reports of icy roads throughout the region, police are asking people to allow extra time for their morning commute due to the conditions.

They say icy roads often warrant a significantly slower speed than what is posted and when roads are slippery, a vehicle’s stopping distance increases so drivers should make extra space between themselves and other drivers.

As well, police say drivers should appraoch red lights or stop signs with caution and keep a watchful eye out for other vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.
