Police in Halifax are looking to the public to recover an RCMP officer’s stolen badge.

Halifax Regional Police (HRP) said the officer’s wallet, with the badge inside, was stolen from a vehicle in the area of 100 Fairbanks St. in Dartmouth sometime between midnight and 5 a.m. on Jul. 24.

“Police remind members of the public that possession of police-issued equipment by the public is prohibited by law,” HRP said in a news release. “Additionally, Nova Scotia’s Police Identity Management Act carries penalties for unlawful possession of police articles.”

Anyone with information is asked to call HRP at 902-490-5020, or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
