Bill Moore, executive director of the city’s community safety department, says there are more than 85 people at the four green spaces the municipality has currently designated to be used as homeless encampments. Moore says the nine new sites will act as a “pressure release” as the current designated areas have reached capacity. The nine new locations include seven on the Halifax peninsula, including Bayers Road Windsor Street Park, BiHi Park, Chain Lake Park, Cogswell Park, Glebe Street Park, Halifax Common berm, and Point Pleasant Park. Across the harbour in Dartmouth, Bissett Road Park and the Geary Street green space were selected as designated sites. All locations were chosen for their proximity to public transit and other services, and for their distance from schools, parks, gardens, or culturally sensitive areas. In February, Halifax asked unhoused people to leave Victoria Park and four other previously authorized encampments _ including in front of city hall. The list that tracks people experiencing homelessness in Halifax has grown to 1,316 people. 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail admin previous post Provincial government looks for input on policing in Nova Scotia next post Police search for missing man last seen in Halifax You may also like إقبال شديد على قبعة ’’كندا ليست للبيع‘‘ التي... 16 يناير، 2025 ترودو لن يترشّح للانتخابات التشريعية وكارني يترشح للزعامة... 16 يناير، 2025 الرد الكندي: لا إجراءات مُعلَنة طالما أنّ تهديدات... 16 يناير، 2025 ترودو يرحّب بوقف إطلاق النار في غزة ويأمل... 16 يناير، 2025 Blown tire blamed for causing passenger plane’s landing... 16 يناير، 2025 Truro man who disappeared one year ago still... 16 يناير، 2025 RCMP committed to addressing rise in intimate partner... 16 يناير، 2025 Crews searching for woman swept into sea at... 16 يناير، 2025 U.S. tariffs could impact thousands of jobs in... 16 يناير، 2025 Two more children dead after weekend house fire... 15 يناير، 2025
