Frost advisory issued for parts of HRM as temperatures dip overnight

Clearing skies tonight and a forecasted drop in temperatures have prompted a frost advisory for parts of the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Environment Canada says areas in the region could see temperatures fall as low as 1 C overnight, bringing the potential for frost, particularly in low-lying areas.

Allister Aalders, 95.7 Weather Specialist, says areas closer to the shoreline should see temperatures in the 6 C range, but inland and into low-lying areas, temperatures could approach the freezing mark.

Residents with frost-sensitive plants and trees are being urged to take precautions to prevent damage.

The clear skies will bring sunshine tomorrow, with temperatures expected to rebound to a high of 23 C. The sun and warmer temperatures will continue, according to Environment Canada, which notes that Wednesday and Thursday will see highs of 24 C and 25 C, respectively.

The long-range forecast is showing showers will return to the area by the weekend, and with it a drop in temperatures.
