Freezing rain warning issued for Halifax area

As of late Friday afternoon, a rainfall warning remains in effect

A freezing rain warning has been added to the rainfall warning already in effect for the Halifax area.

If you’re near a window, you already know it’s been raining most of Friday.

As of late Friday afternoon, that has tapered off to showers, but Environment Canada expects more heavy rain to start overnight and continue until Saturday afternoon, when it tapers to showers.

It’s expected late Saturday into Sunday, those rain showers could switch over to freezing rain, although the rain could stick around near parts of the coast.

And that freezing rain or ice pellets could linger into the day on Sunday.

“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery,” the warning said. “Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.”
