The province is reminding residents to prepare for snowy and icy conditions over the next few months. Officials say drivers should have winter tires installed, ensure cold-temperature antifreeze is in their vehicles and keep an emergency kit on hand. Other winter driving tips include always wearing a seatbelt, slowing down and leaving extra space between vehicles, keeping the gas tank at least half full, clearing snow from your vehicle and planning ahead for possible delays. The provincial government is also running its annual Be Winter Ready campaign, which features online ads promoting safe driving tips.
