Firefighters battle fire near Herring Cove on Thursday

Halifax Fire crews made quick work of a “significant” fire in the Herring Cove area on Thursday afternoon.

According to deputy chief Dave Meldrum, firefighters were called to a “commercial structure” on Glen Baker Dr. off Herring Cove Rd. at 3 p.m.

“Initial conditions included a significant amount of fire which was contained quickly with large volumes of water using a defensive strategy,” Meldrum said in an email.

He said the fire was brought under control and there were no reported injuries.

Fire investigators were expected at the scene to look into a cause.
