Communications and Policy director Naomi Shelton says the agency became aware of the email on Friday, and says it appears to be coming directly from Elections Nova Scotia. “This robo-email that is circulating is encouraging people to click and provide their personal information in order to prepare for internet voting,” Shelton told 95.7 NewsRadio. “There is no internet voting option in the general election.” The agency says Elections Nova Scotia does not send emails to voters soliciting personal information using links, and only contacts voters if the voter has contacted the agency first. “The integrity of the electoralprocess and the safety of voters’ personal information is important to Elections Nova Scotia so we are responding as quickly as possible to the scam,” says Dorothy Rice, Chief Electoral Officer of Nova Scotia.
