On June 3, Mounties received a report of inappropriate contact with a student by an employee working at Uniacke District School. According to RCMP, officers launched an investigation in December 2023 after receiving reports that a math intervention teacher employed at schools within the Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education had inappropriately touched a student on multiple occasions. Police said on Aug. 5, officers arrested Colin Wilson, 35, of Lantz. He has been charged with sexual interference and sexual exploitation of a young person. He was released on conditions and will appear at Shubenacadie Provincial Court in October.
