At roughly 11:20 p.m., an officer spotted a vehicle travelling on Lady Hammond Road with a burned-out passenger-side headlamp and no visible license plate. Police said the officer then turned on the emergency lights and sirens, but the driver did not stop and sped down Robie Street. According to Halifax Regional Police, the vehicle was found abandoned at the intersection of Robie and Young streets where it crashed into the concrete base of a traffic control box. Bystanders said they saw two men flee from the vehicle. Police said they found the passenger behind nearby bushes, and he was transported to hospital with serious injuries, while the driver was arrested on Gottingen Street, shortly before midnight.
