The Mounties have laid charges against three people for driving significantly faster than the posted speed limit.

On Friday, the RCMP says officers stopped a Honda Civic that was tracked going 109 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on St. Margarets Bay Rd. in Timberlea. The 19-year-old Hubley man was charged with stunting and had his vehicle towed.

Related:

Earlier that day, a 28-year-old New Germany woman was handed the same charge for driving 109 k/m in a 30 km/h school zone.

And on Sept.26, a 20-year-old Halifax man was charged after police watched a Dodge Charger going 116 km/h on Portland St. in Dartmouth, where the speed limit is 50 km/h.

Police say stunting comes along with a nearly $2,500 fine, six demerit points and an immediate seven-day license suspension.
