The incident happened July 5 around 1:00 p.m. on the Musquodoboit River near Highway 357 in Elderbank. Police were called after a man and a woman in a canoe said they were “being stalked by three vicious dogs” who were trying to come aboard the boat. When the officer arrive, they determined the pair were in “imminent danger” and fired their gun killing one of the dogs. The other two canines ran off after the shot was fired. RCMP said that the dead animal did not have a collar or identification. The investigation is ongoing.
