CANADAHALIFAX news Deer hunting season starts in Nova Scotia by admin 28 أكتوبر، 2022 written by admin 28 أكتوبر، 2022 26 Friday is opening day CITYnews halifax \ Meghan Groff Listen to this article Friday is opening day for hunters as general deer season kicks off and the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables wants everyone to be safe. “People planning to be in the woods this time of year are reminded to wear hunter orange, respect private landowners and keep pets on a leash,” Tory Rushton, the department’s minister said in a news release. Hunting is only allowed on the next two Sundays, October 30 and November 6. The general deer season runs until December 3, and the hunting seasons for other types of game vary. And if you’re taking your dog for a walk, keep them close as approved traps and snares can be set in wildlife habitats — on land and in water — until March 31. Hunters heading into the woods are required to carry a compass, a knife or hand axe and waterproof matches. A map or GPS, first-aid kit and fully charged cell phone are also a good idea, and they should let someone know where they’ll be and when they plan to return home. With avian influenza circulating, hunters and fur harvesters are also asked to take precautions when handling game such as wearing a mask and rubber gloves and cleaning game in a ventilated area. They should also cook meat thoroughly, and clean and disinfect tools and contaminated surfaces. “People should not eat or handle wildlife that appears sick or died from an unknown cause,” the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables said. “They should also prevent pets from coming into contact with sick or dead wildlife.” “Anyone who becomes ill after handling or eating game should see a healthcare provider or call 811.” If you suspect poaching or illegal hunting activities, you can file a report through the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables by calling 1-800-565-2224. 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail admin previous post Halifax Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre gets $28.8 million from Ottawa for new build next post Study: Touchdown Atlantic provided economic boost to Nova Scotia cities You may also like أونتاريو تفرض رسماً بنسبة 25% على الكهرباء إلى... 10 مارس، 2025 China tariff on Canadian seafood adds more volatility... 10 مارس، 2025 Province implements maximum setbacks for wind turbines 10 مارس، 2025 ‘How did we survive?’ What Canadians recall —... 10 مارس، 2025 Emera Oval set to close for season this... 10 مارس، 2025 Nova Scotians warned about false heat pump rebate... 10 مارس، 2025 Carney captured 85.9% of the vote, sweeping Liberal... 10 مارس، 2025 Opposition criticizes delay in N.S. funding for transition... 10 مارس، 2025 سلسلة من التدابير لِدعم الشركات الكندية لمواجهة الرسوم... 8 مارس، 2025 كندا تعلن عن بناء منشآت عسكرية في الشمال 8 مارس، 2025
