It’s another weekend filled with events to get us in the holiday spirit

It’s another weekend filled with events to get us in the holiday spirit. Here are some of them.

Friday, December 2

The Holiday Projection Show on Old Dartmouth City Hall has started for the season and the Christkindl Market goes this weekend at Alderney Landing, with live music, a carousel ride, family activities, food, drinks and Christmas cheer.

On the Halifax side of the harbour, Shopping Under the Stars goes Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Spring Garden Road area, with participating businesses offering special holiday promotions.

Argyle Fine Art, Art 1274 Hollis Gallery, Teichert Gallery  and The Prow Gallery will also stay open late for the Starry Night Gallery Hop, offering special activities like live artist demos, exhibit openings and holiday cheer.

The Christmas tree lighting in the Hydrostone goes Friday night from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with refreshments, music and Santa. Veith House will be accepting donations.

And there’s another Christmas tree lighting in Lake Echo Friday night.

The community centre at 3168 Hwy 7 will open at 6 p.m. for the 6:30 p.m. ceremony and carolling.

The tree lighting is at 7 p.m., followed by fireworks.

Saturday, December 3

Dartmouth’s Christmas tree lighting goes Saturday at Sullivan’s Pond.

There will be live entertainment, a visit from Santa and free treats starting at 5 p.m., with the lighting at 6:30 p.m. followed by fireworks.

Head over to the Findlay Community Centre to check out Winter Wonderland Statues by Atlantic Cirque. There will also be holiday activities and treats from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

During that same time period you’ll find entertainment from the East Coast Carollers outside the illuminated historic Flume House at Starr Park.

Expect Crichton Avenue to be closed from Dahlia Street to Ochterloney Street from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

And Ochterloney Street will shut down from Prince Albert Road to Maple Street from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

And there will be a ChristkindlMarket Walk/Sing-a-long Saturday night.

Expect traffic delays from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. as the group leaves Sullivan’s Pond after the tree lighting and walks east on Ochterloney Street to Alderney Landing.

The Christmas Parade of Lights and Lobster Trap Tree and Museum Lighting will be taking place in Musquodoboit Harbour Saturday.

According to RCMP, the parade will start at the Eastern Shore District High School on West Petpeswick Rd., run along Highway 7 to Park Rd. and end at the Musquodoboit Harbour Community Centre/Arena.

Highway 7 in that area is expected to be closed from 6 p.m. to around 7 p.m.
