Dalhousie University will be keeping its mask requirement in classrooms throughout the winter term.

In a memorandum, Provost and Vice-President Academic Frank Harvey said the face coverings will need to be worn in indoor instructional spaces during scheduled teaching times.

Masks are strongly recommended in libraries, learning commons and gathering spaces where physical distancing may be difficult.

“Classrooms, labs, exams and other instructional spaces are essential to our academic experience, and we are greatly appreciative of the commitment our students and instructors have shown in bringing and wearing their masks,” Harvey stated.

“By doing so, you not only limit the risks of COVID-19 and influenza transmission on campus but ensure our learning spaces can be safer and more comfortable for those who may be immunocompromised or live with those who are.”

Harvey also reminded students that masks will also be required for students writing exams in instructional spaces.
