Effective Wednesday, the province says lead acid battery manufacturing facilities will only need an industrial approval rather than the previous requirement where industrial approval was needed and a class II environmental assessment. The province says Nova Scotia was the only place in Canada that required both approvals, but this change will bring it in line with other jurisdictions. Minister of Environment and Climate Change Tim Halman says he believes this change opens the door for new economic opportunities. “These types of projects can be done safely and responsibly via an industrial approval, one of our most robust environmental regulatory tools, and they align with our circular economy goals,” says Halman in a release. The province says lead acid batteries store and release energy to power things like vehicles, energy systems, the clean technology sector, industrial vehicles and machines, servers, telecommunications equipment, marine vehicles and buildings. 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail admin previous post CITYnews halifax : Senate committee report calls for better co-ordination of wildfire response next post CITYnews halifax : Preston-area businesses receive financial upgrades to improve accessibility You may also like RCI: Ottawa ne lie plus la renégociation de... 25 يوليو، 2026 RCI: La nouvelle IA d’Anthropic présentée comme moins... 25 يوليو، 2026 RCI: Le Canada inaugure le pont Gordie-Howe, sans... 25 يوليو، 2026 RCI: Trump menace d’imposer « un gros tarif... 25 يوليو، 2026 RCI: Billions in trade, 850,000 hours saved and... 24 يوليو، 2026 RCI : Trump vows tariffs to come for... 24 يوليو، 2026 RCI: U.S. measles cases have already broken last... 24 يوليو، 2026 RCI: CBC INVESTIGATES | Doctors are using a... 24 يوليو، 2026 CITYnews halifax: N.B. police investigate possible hate crime... 24 يوليو، 2026 CITYnews halifax: Zinc mine restarts in Halifax County... 24 يوليو، 2026
