Effective Wednesday, the province says lead acid battery manufacturing facilities will only need an industrial approval rather than the previous requirement where industrial approval was needed and a class II environmental assessment. The province says Nova Scotia was the only place in Canada that required both approvals, but this change will bring it in line with other jurisdictions. Minister of Environment and Climate Change Tim Halman says he believes this change opens the door for new economic opportunities. “These types of projects can be done safely and responsibly via an industrial approval, one of our most robust environmental regulatory tools, and they align with our circular economy goals,” says Halman in a release. The province says lead acid batteries store and release energy to power things like vehicles, energy systems, the clean technology sector, industrial vehicles and machines, servers, telecommunications equipment, marine vehicles and buildings. 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail admin previous post CITYnews halifax : Senate committee report calls for better co-ordination of wildfire response next post CITYnews halifax : Preston-area businesses receive financial upgrades to improve accessibility You may also like راديو كندا الدولي: كبير مفاوضي كندا الأسبق لا... 30 يونيو، 2026 راديو كندا الدولي: كندا تدفع نحو تعزيز السلامة... 30 يونيو، 2026 CITYnews halifax : Police identify homicide victim in... 30 يونيو، 2026 CITYnews halifax : Paid on-street Saturday parking to... 30 يونيو، 2026 CITYnews halifax: Junior sprint canoe world championship to... 30 يونيو، 2026 CITYnews halifax: Damaged railway crossings due to incidents... 30 يونيو، 2026 CITYnews halifax: Police call for information after man... 29 يونيو، 2026 CITYnews halifax : N.S. invests in Cape Breton... 29 يونيو، 2026 CITYnews halifax: RCMP take 24 unsafe vehicles off... 29 يونيو، 2026 CITYnews halifax: UN ambassador Lametti: Canada pushing for... 29 يونيو، 2026
