RCMP say the collision happened just before 4 a.m. in Esgenoôpetitj, which is about 180 kilometres northeast of Fredericton. Police say the driver and vehicle involved were gone when officers arrived. A news release says investigators believe the vehicle was heading southeast on Micmac Road when it veered onto the shoulder and struck the woman. She died at the scene.
