According to the latest data from Halifax Regional Police, officers stopped and charged 45 people with impaired-related offences during the first month of the year. Of the drivers, 32 of them were charged with impaired operation of a conveyance by alcohol, six face offences due to drugs and seven were given driving suspensions for operation of a conveyance while having consumed alcohol. For the drivers that provided breath samples police note that 15 of them were marked down as having twice the legal blood-alcohol limit. Seven of the drivers did not provide a sample and were charged with the offence of refusal. This comes after RCMP released impaired driving statistics from last year which showed the vast majority of people are being charged for driving drunk in the province.
