وبعد انسحاب الصدر توالت (الانسحابات الإعلامية، وليست الرسمية) ومنها انسحاب الحزب الشيوعي العراقي، ورئيس جبهة الحوار الوطني صالح المطلك، ورئيس الوزراء الأسبق أياد علاوي بالإضافة إلى العديد من المرشحين غير البارزين. ومع ذلك، أكدت المفوضية والتي قالت بأنها لم تتلق أي طلبات تحريرية للانسحاب من الانتخابات وهذا يعني أنهم باقون داخل ميدان السباق الانتخابي، ويمكنهم المشاركة، لأنهم لم يقدموا طلبات الانسحاب ضمن التوقيتات القانونية للانسحاب خلال الأشهر الماضية، وبهذا فهم باقون في حلبة الترشح، وربما جميعهم يرغبون بتحقيق أهداف شخصية وحزبية، آنية ومستقبلية، من وراء إعلان الانسحاب، أو في أفضل الأحوال الضغط على الكاظمي لتأجيل الانتخابات إلى نهاية العام القادم!

يعد تنامي الإرهاب أيضا مؤشرا واضحا على عدم وجود أرضية صالحة للانتخابات، وينطبق ذلك على جميع مدن العراق الغربية والشرقية والشمالية عدا مدن إقليم كردستان وغالبية مدن الجنوب، والتي تشهد عودة للمجاميع الإرهابية للعبث بالعديد من المدن ومن بينها ديالى وصلاح الدين والموصل ومناطق حزام بغداد وغيرها.
