Anyone 18+ is now eligible to book a COVID booster

Those under the age of 30 are strongly encouraged to get a Pfizer shot

Nova Scotians 18 years old and up are now eligible to book a booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

At least 168 days must have passed since the second dose.

The province plans to add more than 55,000 Pfizer appointments at clinics across the province, but these initially will only be available to those between the ages of 12 and 29 years at this time,

Those under the age of 30 are strongly encouraged to get a Pfizer shot because a rare, but increased risk of myocarditis and pericarditis in younger people appears to be more common after Moderna.

And those between the ages of 12 and 17 can only get Pfizer for their first and second doses. They are not eligible for a booster dose.

Once those under the age of 30 have a chance to get their vaccines or boosters, those 30+ will be able to book Pfizer appointment, but the province is encouraging Nova Scotians not to wait.

“People 30 and older who have scheduled a Moderna COVID-19 vaccine appointment are encouraged to keep their appointment so they can receive their booster sooner and to reduce vaccine wastage,” the province said in a news release.
