It looks like Halifax is in for another stormy start to the weekend.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement across Nova Scotia calling for a “significant” winter storm that will bring snow, rain and wind.

It says the highest snowfall amounts up to 40 cm are likely in western and northern Nova Scotia, while Halifax east into Cape Breton could see 50 mm of rain.

Winds across the province are expected to near gusts of 100 km/h on Friday night.

Weather statements are also in place for PEI and parts of New Brunswick ahead of the storm.
