Another closure on Spring Garden as streetscaping nears completion

A busy Halifax roadway will be closed for the next two weeks for what are expected to be the finishing touches on a large-scale streetscaping project.

Spring Garden Road between South Park and Queen streets will be closed from Sept. 5 until 8 p.m. on Sept. 19.

“This work is for the final phase of the Imagine Spring Garden Road streetscaping project, which aims to beautify the street as well as improve conditions for those walking, rolling and using Halifax Transit,” the municipality said in a news release.

The final touches include installing new bus shelters, sidewalks and planters among other things.

The closure will be enforced 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but businesses along the stretch will remain open during the work.
