A celebration of beer begins on the Halifax waterfront

Celebrating its 15th year, the Halifax Seaport Cider and Beerfest is set to take over the Halifax waterfront.

The annual festival offers Haligonians the chance to sample nearly 300 beers and ciders from Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and beyond.

As organizer Bruce Mansour says, a new addition to the festival will be a selection of fizzy drinks in addition to beer and cider.

“People’s tastes profiles and desires are changing and shifting all the time which is why we originally brought in ciders and now it includes sodas and seltzers ,” he tells CityNews Halifax. “There is a growing segment of non-alcoholic as well so we kind of have something for everyone.”

Mansour adds that the festival has also headed back outdoors after being held in the Cunard Centre, but every representing brewer or cidery will have their own tent, which he says should prevent any unpredictable weather.

“We have got some extra room in and around the tents,” he says. “And we will all be able to bunch around if any heavy rain comes down.”

The Seaport Cider and Beerfest runs Aug. 10 to Aug. 12.
