Albro Lake Beach and Penhorm Beach in Dartmouth and Birch Cove Beach in Bedford are closed until further notice The City says staff regularly test the water quality at all supervised municipal beaches during the summer months. High bacteria levels can be caused by a number of factors, including dogs, birds, wildlife and impacts from climate change, such as high temperatures. HRM says they will continue testing the water until bacteria levels return to safe levels and will advise residents when the beaches reopens.
