Man lost in Gold River believed to have been swept out to sea

The RCMP says a man missing after being caught in a river west of Halifax is believed to have been swept out to sea.

The 31-year-old man was last seen Monday evening in Gold River. He and two other men were tubing on the river when his tube capsized.

Several emergency organizations including police, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) and local fire departments searched the area to no avail.

The Mounties say search efforts have concluded based on the belief that he was swept out to sea, but the file remains open and new search activities will be considered if new information is received
