A medium-density bloom of blue-green algae species in Nova Scotia, near the shoreline of a lake Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Climate Change CANADAHALIFAX news Two area beaches closed because of blue-green algae bloom by admin 14 يوليو، 2023 written by admin 14 يوليو، 2023 322 CITYnews halifax \ By Mark Hodgins Another pair of Halifax-area beaches is being impacted by toxic algae. The municipality says Cunard Beach and Sandy Lake Beach in HRM are closed for recreational use because of the presence of blue-green algae blooms. Algae produce toxins that make humans sick and can be fatal for pets. A dog reportedly died earlier this year after coming into contact with the algae at a local lake. The city says people shouldn’t touch the water, keep pets away from it, don’t drink the water, or consume fish from the impacted lake. Staff will be further investigating to find out if the algae at Cunard Beach is producing toxins. If it’s not, the beach will be reopened. 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail admin previous post Girl suffers serious injuries after being hit by van while crossing street in Halifax next post Halifax police investigating west end fire as arson You may also like Wilkie wins Canada’s first gold medal at Milan... 8 مارس، 2026 Iranian state TV says Mojtaba Khamenei, son of... 8 مارس، 2026 Missing police badge recovered in proactive traffic stop 8 مارس، 2026 Mooseheads win season series against Eagles 8 مارس، 2026 PM Carney calls federal by-elections for April in... 8 مارس، 2026 بمشاعر تتأرجح بين الارتياح والتوتر: كنديون يغادرون لبنان... 8 مارس، 2026 Diesel prices to shift again in Nova Scotia... 6 مارس، 2026 Halifax Water investigating ‘privacy incident’ on its online... 6 مارس، 2026 Halifax teens lament the loss of government program... 6 مارس، 2026 Spring Garden area businesses call out paid parking... 6 مارس، 2026
