Motorcycle crash claims life of Dartmouth man in Newport Station

RCMP were called to the scene on Hwy 1 in Newport Station on Saturday at approximately 3:05 p.m. to find that a motorcycle had veered off the road.  Police say a 54-year-old man from Dartmouth, who was the sole rider, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A collision reconstructionist was dispatched to assist in the investigation.

The aftermath of the crash led to the closure of a section of Hwy. 1, specifically between Wentworth Rd. and Salmon Hole Dam Rd., for several hours. However, normal traffic flow has since been restored.
