At around 1:15 a.m. on December 24, officers were called to a disturbance involving several people on Brunswick Street near the Halifax Alehouse. When they arrived they found Ryan Michael Sawyer unresponsive just around the corner on a Prince Street sidewalk. The 31-year-old was rushed to hospital where he later died. Investigators would like to speak with a man who was in the area at the time. He’s described as Black, in his 20s to 30s, and tall with a thin build. He had been wearing a black coat and a black shirt with a gold symbol. “This potential witness is not a suspect in the death and investigators are not seeking additional suspects at this time,” HRP said in a news release.
