Man charged in parking lot assault earlier this month

A man has been charged in a parking lot assault earlier this month.

Halifax Regional Police say it happened at around 4:30 p.m. on January 9 on Main Street near Highway 111.

They say a man in a vehicle cut off another vehicle.

“After both vehicles came to a stop, the man exited his vehicle and then proceeded to assault the other driver and hit the other vehicle with what was believed to be a tire iron,” HRP alleged in a news release.

The man drove off while the victim was treated at the scene by EHS.

Police arrested a suspect earlier this week.

The 62-year-old will appear in court at a later date to face charges of dangerous operation of a conveyance, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and mischief (property damage).
