Accidental 911 call leads to seizure of several weapons

RCMP say an accidental 911 call led them to a home where they seized several weapons, including firearms and grenades.

According to Mounties, just before 8:30 p.m. Monday, a 911 call came in from an Astral Drive home in Cole Harbour.

It was reported as accidental, but officers followed standard policy and went to the home to confirm there wasn’t an emergency.

When they arrived, they spoke to a man and a woman who had been in a dispute.

The officers say there was damage throughout the home, along with many firearms out in the open.

Police say they seized four handguns, numerous long guns including a carbine, loaded magazines, grenades, two swords, a spear, multiple knives and ammunition.

The man was arrested.

William Adam Judson Butt, 42, of Cole Harbour, will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face charges of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized, unsafe storage of a firearm and mischief.
