The Halifax Mooseheads defeated the QMJHL’s top-ranked team, as the Herd edged the Quebec Remparts 2-1 in a shootout win on Thursday night.

Alexandre Doucet put Halifax on the board late in the first period with James Malatesta tying it up shortly after.

After a scoreless second and third periods, the teams went to overtime where neither team managed to seal the deal, forcing a shootout where Cam Whynot ended it for the Mooseheads.

The Mooseheads are back in the Scotiabank Centre on Saturday when they welcome the Sherbrooke Phoenix.
