RCMP say a vehicle stolen in Halifax was used in a crime spree spanning five days around the province.

Halifax Regional Police were told the red Honda Civic had been stolen from Robie Street either late July 1 or early July 2.

It was then used in multiple thefts across Nova Scotia, including in Kings County, East Hants and Cape Breton.

On July 7, RCMP received a driving complaint involving the Honda on Highway 4 in Howie Centre, about 15 minutes southwest of Sydney.

While officers drove to the location, they were told people had been seen running from the car, which had a flat tire.

Mounties, along with the Cape Breton Regional Police Services (CBRPS), arrested two men and say they had stolen property with them.

Joseph Gage Zachery Antoine, 25 of Wadena, Saskatchewan, has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000;
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000;
  • Theft under $5,000;
  • Obstructing a Peace Officer

John Travis MacKinnon, 32 of Truro, has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000;
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000;
  • Theft under $5,000

Both suspects have been remanded into custody until their upcoming appearances in Sydney Provincial Court.

Police are still investigating and say they anticipate more charges are to come.

Anyone with information is asked to contact their local police service or Crime Stoppers.
