يزيدُ من نسبة التوقع وإستنفار الحواس لأنَّ تضايف الفنون الأخرى خصوصا السينما ركن أساسي في بناء الرواية فضلا عن الإحتفاء بالفن التشكيلي، ومما يولدُ ذلك المُناخ الحافل بالألوان والإحالات إلى الأفلام والمُقتسبات السينمائية هو إهتمام الشخصيات الأساسية، فالراوي المعتمدُ على ضمير المتكلم (مراد) مخرجُ يعملُ على إنجاز مشروع فيلم حولَ المهاجرين المُتقاعدين المغاربة الذين يعانون نتيجة ما يفرضُ عليهم القانون الفرنسي بالتواجد في فرنسا لمدة ستة أشهر في السنة. ولن يكونَ عنوان الفيلم الذي يتأرجح بين “ثمن الغياب” أو “سلسلة” سوى تسمية دالة على الإنشطار بين الضفتين، يتحملُ هؤلاء المُهاجرون المعروفون بـ “الشيبانيين” تبعاته والحال هذه فمن الطبيعي أن تتواردَ على لسان الراوي مقولاتٍ منسوبة إلى المُخرجين العالميين أمثال فيليني، فرانسو تروفو، بولانسكي، وودي آلن. إضافة إلى ما يضمهُ النص من الصيغ التعبيرية الخاصة بفن السينما وإيرادُ مختصر للسيناريوهات التي كتبها مُراد ما يعنى إمكانية انضمام قصص فرعية داخل قصة الإطار. كما أنَّ الراوي يتكفلُ بتنظيم الخطاب السردي وترتيب المادة الفيلمية في آن واحد. صاحبة “حق الرحيل” تمكنت من تضفير عدة ثيمات الحب والحنين وسايكولوجية التوأم في لحمة نصها حُب مكتوم ثيمة الحبِ هي قوام هذا النص الروائي فمنها تنطلقُ الأحداث وما يحكيه مراد عن مشاعره المكتومة لنور تأسيس لكيان النص ويدعمُ الجانبَ الوجداني في بنية الرواية أيضاً إعتراف موريس بتجربته المؤلمة في الحب إذ عَشِقَ بيترا البرتغالية لكن الأخيرة لم تُبادله المشاعر نفسها ما دفع بموريس نحو دوامة الهذيان والتهوس وإستغرقت معالجته وإعادة تأهليه ليفرق بين الخيال والواقع سنواتٍ من المُتابعة إلى أنَّ يجدَ في إقتناء التحف الفنية عوضاً للحب الذي كان سراباً أكثر من الحقيقة، وما يُخلصُ إليه العائد من لشبونة بعد إخفاقه العاطفي أن الولع بالأشياء أهون من الولع بالإنسان. وهذه الجملة يستعيدها مراد موضحاً إستحالة التخلي عن حبه للفنانة نور أخت زوجته من هنا تتضحُ أبعادُ أزمته العاطفية المركبة، فهو لا يمكنهُ الإعلان عن حبه المُخالف للعرف والتقاليد من جانب كما يُحملُ نفسه وزر ما تعانيه نور من سوء العلاقة مع الروائي كمال الخلفي من جانب آخر. لأنَّ معرفة المؤلف بنور تزامنت مع قيام مراد بتحويل لرواية “ليلة التحدي” إلى فيلم سينمائي وإختارت نورَ بطلةً. ولا ينتهي الأمرُ عند هذا الحد إنما يتنقلُ الوضع إلى مستوى أشدَّ توتراً عندما يفشلُ مرادُ في إعادة اللحمة بين الاثنين والإنفصال يكون نتيجة أخيرة غير أنَّ ثمة خيطاً يشدُ الشخصيات الثلاث نحو اختبار صعب. وذلك يتمثلُ في إكتشاف نور بأنها حامل. ما يعني إنفتاح السردِ على عدة الإحتمالات وإكتسابه لمزيد من الزخم. ينفردُ الراوي بالمشهدِ بينما يظلُ حضور الشخصية المُنافسة كمال الخلفي عابراً ويلتقي به مرادُ في فلورنسا حينَ شاركَ برفقة نور في المهرجان السينمائي، وهناك تطفوُ مشاعره إلى العلن خصوصاً عندما تُصاب رفيقتهُ بوعكة صحية في كنيسة سانتا كروس التي دفن فيها عباقرة الرسم حامل بالتوأم صورةً لحياته مع أخيه التوأم، وهذا الوضع يستدعي إفصاح مراد لسره المخبوء فهو قد ذاق مرارة خسارة شقيقه منير الذي يموتُ في حادث السير كما حُرم قبل ذلك من حنان الأم بعد إنفصال والديه إذ يكتشفُ الرجل وجود علاقة مشبوهة بين زوجته وردة وأحد الشبان وإتفق الإثنان على حضانة الطفلين بحيثُ يعيشُ مرادُ في كنف والده ويبقى منير لدى الأمِ. والملفتُ أن مرادَ لم يعلنْ عن هذه القصة إلا لنور وخبأها عن زوجته نادية، ولا تكتملُ أجزاؤها قبل حضور الأب ومشاركته في عيد ميلاد التوأم الجديد وائل وجاد حيث تعهدت نادية برعايتهما دون أن تعرف حقيقة إنتساب الطفلين إلى أختهِ إذ يفبركُ مرادُ خبراً عن حصول نور على منحة جامعية في ميامي، وبهذا غابت عن الأنظار زاد الأمر تمويهاً عندما تقتنعُ نادية برواية زوجها عن إحتمال تبني مولد لإمرأة مقيمة في مدينة آسفي. يستمرُ الراوي في إدارة دفة السرد الفائض بالدرامية إلى أن يتمَّ فك عقدة الأسرار بالتوازي مع مرض نادية ورقودها في المستشفى. يشارُ إلى أنَّ الكاتبة تستفيد من فضاءات بيضاء للقفز على الزمن الرملي بعد الإبلاغ عن مرض نادية ومعرفتها لوالدي الطفلين يكونُ المتلقي أمام مشهد جديد حيثُ يسمعُ كمال الخلفي من صديقه المخرج بأنَّ الطفلين من صلبه غير أنَّ كشف المستور لا يغير موقفه إنما يُتفاجأ مرادَ بمعرفة كمال لما يكنه من الحب لنور لذا يقترحُ عليه الإرتباط بأخت زوجتهِ الفقيدة.
