A man has been charged with first degree murder following the 2019 disappearance of Peter Anthony (Tony) Walsh.

Walsh left a residence in Crowes Mill, Colchester County on August 23 of that year.

His vehicle was later found in the parking lot of a business in downtown Truro.

Tony’s family released a YouTube video pleading for information on his whereabouts in December of 2019, and about a month later, RCMP announced his disappearance was being investigated as a homicide.

Last Thursday, June 16, 56-year-old John Alfred Cook of Londonderry was arrested.

Police also found human remains in the Londonderry area on that day.

“Investigators believe these remains to be those of Tony Walsh based on all of the evidence and information collected,” said Mounties in a news release.

“The RCMP’s thoughts continue to be with the Walsh family.”
