Man charged after over $45,000 worth of sunglasses stolen from store

Halifax Regional Police have made an arrest after over $45,000 worth of sunglasses were stolen from a Dartmouth business over the last two months.

Police say a man stole multiple pairs of sunglasses from the Sunglass Hut at Mic Mac Mall between April 16 and June 18.

After Saturday’s theft, officers arrested a suspect nearby and say he had an outstanding warrant.

Joshua David Boutilier, 37, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Theft over $5000 (9 counts)
  • Possession of stolen goods over $5,000 (9 counts)
  • Theft under $5,000 (9 counts)
  • Possession of stolen goods under $5,000 (9 counts)
  • Breach of probation (12 counts)
  • Failing to attend court
