Man accused of stunting also facing impaired driving charges

RCMP also charged two others with impaired driving and one with stunting this past weekend

Halifax District RCMP say a man accused of stunting is also facing impaired driving charges.

At around 8 p.m. Friday, two 911 calls came in to report a possible impaired driver.

A responding officer says they spotted the Chevrolet Silverado going 190km/h on Hwy. 107 between Porters Lake and Musquodoboit Harbour.

The officer noticed signs of impairment and took the 48-year-old Musquodoboit Harbour man to the Cole Harbour detachment, where police say he “failed to provide a suitable sample of breath into an approved instrument.”

In addition to a $2,422.50 ticket for stunting, he’s facing charges of impaired operation of a conveyance, refusal of a demand and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

RCMP also charged two others with impaired driving and one for stunting this past weekend.

Late Friday night, Mounties say a Volkswagen Jetta was going 143km/h in a 60 km/h zone of Highway in Westphal.

An 18-year-old was fined for stunting.

At around 10 p.m. on Saturday, an officer spotted a speeder on Highway 7 in Porters Lake. When the driver was pulled over, the woman appeared to be impaired.

Police say the 32-year-old from Cole Harbour’s breath sample registered 150mg%.

She’s facing charges of impaired operation of a conveyance and impaired operation of a conveyance over 80mg%.

Then late Sunday night, an officer watched a Mitsubishi Mirage go through two stop signs on Downsview Dr. in Lower Sackville.

The Mountie said that driver also exhibiting signs of impairment. The 23-year-old Bedford man is being charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and impaired operation of a conveyance over 80mg%.

RCMP encourage those who suspect an impaired driver to call 911.
