Halifax should prepare for lots of rain and strong wind on Tuesday.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Halifax area indicating that “significant rain and wind is expected.”

According to the statement, Halifax should see 40 to 70 mm of rainfall, with higher amounts possible locally.

Wind gusts are also expected to reach nearly 80 km/h.

Environment Canada says in its statement that the rain will begin Tuesday morning and become heavy, at times, later in the day, with strong southeasterly winds.

“The rain is expected to taper to showers with diminishing winds overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning,” its statement reads.

Environment Canada has also issued the same special weather statement for the rest of mainland Nova Scotia, while Cape Breton currently has no weather warnings.
