Halifax Regional Police are asking people to check any money they handle very closely after getting reports of counterfeit cash in municipality.

They’ve received 14 reports over the past three months of fake $100 bills being used at local businesses.

“Don’t accept a bill you believe is counterfeit,” said HRP in a news release.

Information on counterfeit currency can be found on the Bank of Canada’s website.

Anyone who suspects they’ve received a counterfeit bill, or believes someone tried to give them a fake bank note is asked to contact police at 902-490-5020.
