RCMP have charged two men for failing to follow COVID restrictions in Upper Tantallon.

Mounties were told the pair refused to wear masks and demanded to be served at a Hammonds Plains Road business Saturday evening.

When officers arrived, they say the men refused to leave so they were arrested for causing a disturbance.

At first both refused to identify themselves, but one of the men eventually showed his ID to police.

The 20-year-old man from Mineville was handed a ticket under the Health Protection Act and released from custody.

The second was also ticketed, then taken to the cells.

John Daniel Swinimer, 24, appeared in court Monday on charges of obstruction and causing a disturbance. He’s been released from custody and is scheduled back in court on Feb. 14.

The RCMP is reminding everyone to follow all public health orders and municipal bylaws,” said Mounties in a news release. “We all need to do our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19.”
