A Dartmouth man has been charged with animal cruelty.

The Nova Scotia SPCA received a complaint about a dead cat at a Halifax residence on September 2, 2021.

Following a necropsy and an investigation that included a search warrant, Daviyaun Michael Nathanyal Talbot was charged with willfully and without lawful excuse to killing, maiming, wounding, poisoning or injuring a cat that is kept for lawful purpose contrary.

The 20-year-old is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on March 18.

The public can report acts of animal cruelty confidentially by calling the SPCA toll-free at 1-888-703-7722, e-mailing animals@spcans.ca or filling out an online form.
