Environment Canada says the first major winter storm of 2022 could hit Halifax later this week. 

The national forecaster has issued a special weather statement for Halifax and all of Nova Scotia warning of a storm targeting the region on Friday into Saturday, potentially bringing significant snow and wind.

The statement says it is too soon to nail down exact timing or details on precipitation types since any variations in the track of the storm could mean big changes.

Environment Canada says it is expecting strong winds with the storm and is asking the public to keep an eye on the forecast.
