A special weather statement has been issued for most of Nova Scotia, including the Halifax area.

Environment Canada expects rain to start falling in the province Monday morning.

“There is still some uncertainty with regards to the track of this system, but current guidance would indicate widespread 30 to 40 mm with the potential for localized higher amounts,” the statement issued early Sunday morning said.

It’s also expected to be windy, with Halifax’s forecast calling for gusts of up to 70 km/h along parts of the coast.

The weather advisory extends to parts of the province still cleaning up after heavy rains and strong winds last week, including Cape Breton, where more than 200 mm fell in some spots.

Parks Canada says parts of the Cabot Trail remain impassable due to flooding and washouts.
