CITY news \ Canadian Press HALIFAX — Nova Scotia is reporting 72 new cases of COVID-19 since its last update on Friday. Health officials say 31 cases were reported on Saturday, 19 on Sunday and 22 cases were identified today. In total, 58 cases were identified in the Halifax area, eight in the province’s northern zone, five in the western zone and one in the eastern zone. As of today, there are 208 active cases of novel coronavirus with 15 people in hospital because of the infection, including three in intensive care. Meanwhile, health officials also recommended the closure of two Halifax-area schools for the rest of the week in order to contain the spread of COVID-19. The closures of Joseph Howe Elementary and École Mer et Monde in Halifax follow Monday’s closure of Dartmouth South Academy. Officials said testing would be available at both schools next weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. because next Monday is a school development day. With the latest closures, four schools in the Halifax area have been temporarily closed in the last two weeks. Duc d’Anville Elementary School in Halifax was closed for four days last week after 14 cases of novel coronavirus were linked to the school.
