Halifax will require municipal employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19

The municipality says it is preparing a vaccine mandate for workers that will come into effect on Dec. 15

Halifax Regional Municipality employees will soon need to be fully vaccinated. 

In a statement on Thursday morning, the city announced it will require proof of full vaccination starting Dec. 15.

Anyone who refuses will face consequences including unpaid administrative leave, and full vaccination will now be a requirement for new staff being hired.

The municipality said details of the policy, along with the plan to implement it, will be coming.

The decision comes a day after Nova Scotia announced provincial employees will also need to be fully vaccinated.
